“Those fashionistas who are fans of wearable art were impressed by a new artisan at Washington Craft Show at the D.C. Convention Center during the weekend. Samantha Hodge-Williams, of Towson, MD, creates “ArtThreads” – unusual and colorful limited edition knit fabric scarves, belts, flounces, and matching dog collars. She was accompanied by her invaluable service dog, Aslan (named after the gentle lion in C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia"). He was the inspiration for the dog mane-like accessories and the coordinated textile collages for their human companions. This beautiful and talented gal is an inspiration....”

"When creating a scarf, I push the traditional limits of fibers to discover unique, hidden tones and textures. It is such a joy to watch customers try on new designs and to discuss their ideas and feedback. I imagine and remember individuals wearing my textiles on the quiet, creative days working alone. However, retail sales and small craft shows became too physically demanding. Through the American Craft Council’s Mentor Program, I learned how to transition successfully into wholesale work. My mentor, Deborah Cross, guided me through wholesale marketing and customer service. She explained, for example, how to create a very professional, clean booth layout on a tight budget. I was well-received at my first wholesale show (ACC, February 2005) with orders from more than 30 boutiques and galleries nationwide. Of course, the profit margin per wholesale item is significantly lower than retail. However, I can now sell a year’s worth of work at a few well-organized national craft shows."
