1931 Model A Chassis

I’ve accumulated way too many Model A parts and pieces over the course of Model A ownership.

Here’s what she’s got:

ENGINE *A3116057*

The engine is from my 30 Tudor. I didn’t know anything about Model A’s when I bought my A.  I’d never even been in one.  I’ll spare the details but I ended up pulling the engine for a complete inspection.  The biggest problem was the center and front mail bearing babbitt.  I found a guy in Bend Oregon that would pour new babbitt machined to the correct I.D. based on my measurements. Also honed the cylinders and installed new rings. My local machine shop surfaced and repaired a crack in the head near stud#2.  Pistons are .030” over running in sleeved cylinders. Tillotson model X carb. Eight volt positive ground altinator. Fuel solenoid for cutoff. Starter converted to push button operation.  Starts and runs great.  I ran this engine with an Mitchell overdrive to keep viberation levels acceptable in the 50-55 MPH range.  I drove the car with this engine for a year untill it was repalced with a touring engine.

CHASSIS *A454493*

I picked this chassis up from a guy in Arkansas Feb. 2016.  He was attempting a 40‘s era hot rod from an original Fordor.  It was running with a Brockville roadster body.  I think he got bogged down in the particulars of building and went another direction.  It is stock with original shocks but the PO did remove the running board brackets and welded up the holes.

I added a seat from an old Boston Whaler.  Two gallon tank to put around on.

Hers’s a link to Youtube.  I made the video with my iPhone so it’s not the best.
