Lawn Bowling at its Finest

All - Basically December is the beginning of the hibernation season for lawn bowling.  In the event of a dry, 45+ day, which so far has proven to be rare, we will be there to bowl.  Don't go too deep into the cave just yet.  As they say - live in hope.

At the Annual Meeting four members of the Board were elected, two of those re-elected.  The Board membership for 2015 will be:  Class of 2015 - Jeanine Preboski, Pat Collins, and Earl Mulley;  Class of 2016 - Rod Annis, Dave Preboski, Sharon Sands, and Jerry Brewer.  The new Board will meet in January to organize itself and begin planning for the 2015 competitive season, which will be the Club's 37th. Officers for 2015 will be chosen at that meeting.  Two members of the Board will retire at that time, Charles Lewis and Jack Board.  Both have served as President of the Board and the Club owes them a debt of gratitude for their work in our behalf.

The Annual Meeting and Christmas Party was a success, thanks to the efforts of many people - Sharon Sands for her organizational skills, and Judy Brewer and Agnes Scheid for gathering a record number of door prizes, to mention only three.  To all the others, my personal thanks for your efforts.

Reminder:  Club dues are $10 per person for 2015.  If you have not paid, please remit your dues to David Preboski, 20 Alava Lane, HSV, 71909.  Dues must be paid prior to participation in Leagues or Tournaments. Make check payable to VGBC.  This is also the time to pay POA fees for the year.  For 2015 the Lawn Bowling fees are:  Individual - $67.89;  Couple - $107.57; Super Senior (80 or over with card) - $33.95.  Those figures are the same as for Pickle Ball and Bocce.  They are paid straight to the POA, either at the POA Office or with the Annual Amenity Fee Form.  For the unlimited access we have to the Green, these are fair prices.

A brief personal note.  Barb and I are most grateful for our fellow bowlers who have visited and provided us with food worthy of the gods.  Also, supportive cards and calls have reminded us of the special nature of our friends in the VGBC.  Thanks to you all, and may you have a blessed Christmas season.
