Born in 1980 to Air Force parents, Veronica began her musical ventures at age 8 with piano lessons. When she entered junior high, Veronica began studying the clarinet and contrabass clarinet. Two years later, she began study on the bassoon. Veronica began conducting in the 8th grade as student conductor and would hold that position throughout high school. She served as drum major of her high school band. Veronica is in her final year as a music major at Arkansas Tech University. There she has served Arkansas' Band of Distinction proudly for 6 years as head drum major - modern integrations she has incorporated within the marching band can still be seen today. In addition to her drum major duties, Veronica has been student conductor - filling in for the band director on numerous occasions and for numerous events - and basketball pep band leader for as many years. While continuing her studies on bassoon and conducting, Veronica served as principal bassoonist and contrabassoonist of the symphonic band. They have performed at prestigious conferences and clinics including the 2002 American Bandmasters Association Convention in Wichita, Kansas. As a bassoonist, she has earned a spot in the Arkansas Intercollegiate Band and currently teaches area junior high and high school bassoon students. The largest band camp in the state of Arkansas, ATU Band Camps, has employed her as a faculty member since 2001. There she serves as drum major clinician, bassoon All-State instructor, and woodwind sectional instructor. As a student, she has been a member of many organizations where she has held executive offices. She has served as President and/or Vice President in Zeta Tau Alpha, Panhellenic Council, Band Council and is an active member in SIgma Alpha Iota, CMENC, and ASBOA. Veronica has been highly sought after around Arkansas and Oklahoma. Her drum major students have succeeded in securing drum major positions in their respective bands and winning drum major awards at contests. Her bassoon students have gone on to make All-Region and All-State bands. Some have gone on to become band directors. Currently, Veronica is an active Drum Corps International marketing partner, concentrating on viral marketing. She either wants to be a band director or work full time for DCI.
