She was involved in court proceedings on on 5 May 1873 in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois.245 By order of the County Court of Greene County, Illinois, upon motion by Fullington Dale, Mrs. Charity Voyles was adjudged insane and it was ordered that she be arrested and committed to the Illinois State Hospital for the Insane. It was alleged that for her own benefit and for the safety of the community she should be committed to the Illinois State Hospital for the Insane. Fullington Dale was married to Charity's sister, Jane. She was involved in court proceedings on on 26 Oct 1874 in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois.246 In the County Court of Greene County, Illinois, upon motion by Henry Ballard, Mrs. Charity Voyles was adjudged insane and a pauper, and it was ordered that she be arrested and committed to a State Hospital for the Insane. The grounds for her commitment were that "Charity Voyles is supposed to be insane or distracted". Henry Ballard was married to Charity's sister Martha. She appeared in the census on 3 Jun 1880 in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois.247
She died on 25 Jun 1894 in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois.240,248 She was buried in Eldred Cemetary, Greene County, Illinois.249 Charity M. Hulan Voiles died on June 25, 1894, while confined to the Jacksonville State Hospital in Morgan Co., IL. She was "last admitted" to the Jacksonville State Hospital on August 20, 1889. According to the Illinois State Archives' interpretation of the record she was 50 years old at the time of her death.
According to Gerald Caulk's notes, the White Hall Register (newspaper) stated: "Mrs. Charity Voiles, mother of the Bluffdale brothers, died at Jacksonville, June 25, and was brought to Eldred Cemetery for burial."
I have been unable to find a death certificate for Charity. Parents: Jonathan HULING.

had willfully deserted and absented herself from him without any reasonable cause.
This divorce proceeding was apparently never finalized. The sheriff was unable
to serve Charity Voyles with the Chancery Court Summons, as she was not found
in the county.
