Penelope Viles Kirby's son, Berry, was present at the death of James' first wife, Sophronia Burgess. I suspect Margaret Viles, sister of Penelope Viles Kirby, to be James' mother.

Henry Voiles, b. about 1795 also lived in this same District and was listed on earlier tax rolls, but was not listed after 1832, although he was listed in the 1840 census.
The only other reference to a Conrad Voiles that I have found was in connection with a letter at the post office in Roane County, TN, addressed to Conrad or Ransom Voiles. From what I know about Ransom Voiles, he was living in Anderson County in 1836, and moved to Roane County in 1837, before fleeing Roane County in 1840 after getting in trouble with the authorities. He later resurfaced in Kentucky with a new wife. He lived in District 4, Greene County, Tennessee in 1841.557 He lived in District 4, Greene County, Tennessee in 1844.557 Although tax rolls were extant for 1842 and 1843, Jonathan was not listed on them. He lived in District 6, Greene County, Tennessee in 1845.557 It appears that either the tax roll boundaries changed, or Jonathan moved into district 6, home of William Voiles (the herb doctor).
