Title: Homecoming #4: Meeting Victoria for the First Time
Media: photo

Our son-in-law, SSgt Steve Bixby, a career Marine, is back with the family he hadn’t seen in 7 months, and he can’t take his eyes off his infant daughter he is meeting for the first time.

Title: Now If Only They Would All Come Home and Not Have to Go Back
Media: fabric

This origami “peace” flower is yellow, because yellow is the color of
waiting—waiting for the war to end, waiting for the troops to come home for good.

Title: Countdown to Peace
Media: woven of cotton yarns

This piece is a woven name draft that has the message “Countdown to Peace”
encoded in the one of a kind pattern.  The square is woven using a grey yarn; I
see grey as the color of compromise.

Catherine Billingsley is Co-Director of Countdown to Peace.  Primarily a weaver,
she has an MFA in Textile Arts and teaches part-time for the School of Art and
Design at East Carolina University.

Title: Peace Be to the Mustard-Colored House
Media: Loom woven glass beads

Like charity, peace begins at home.  This bead weaving depicts my childhood home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  If PEACE BE TO THE MUSTARD-COLORED HOUSE, then PEACE BE TO THE WORLD.
