Title: Fire, Water, Sun, and Moon
Media: Colored pencils and acrylic on paper

My name is Zayira Ray, and I’m from India.  My dad is from Calcutta, my mom is from New Dehli.  I’ve just finished second grade, and I’m very excited about going into third.  I love drawing.  I was very inspired by an art exhibition on the work of Modigliani that I saw in London.

My art teacher, Rachel Wells, told me about Countdown for Peace, and I’m very excited to participate.  I have black hair, brown eyes, and I’m 8 years old.

Since our earth is in peril, I thought about drawing the main elements that make up our planet.  I drew fire, water, sun, and moon.  These all equal the earth, so I drew stars in the background referring to space.  I used lots of colors such as red, green, black, light blue, dark blue, yellow, orange, purple, and white.

We should try with all our hearts to stop the war.  I have taken this chance and drew a peace sign to represent clearly “NO WAR”.  Our earth is broken because of the Iraq war, and we must stop the event.
