Inspirations from Nature:
A self-taught quilt artist, I have always been captivated by the colors and the textures of cloth.  What started as traditional quilting eventually grew into fabric dyeing and painting, use of threads, wool roving, beads and other surface design elements and the quilt arts I am creating today.

My first profession was social work.  Clinical work with adolescents and families evolved into a stress management practice and health and wellness training.  Our culture generates daily stress, and I believe everyone needs to take the time to breathe and relax regularly.  In many of my quilts, I try to convey a sense of peace and serenity, and I imagine the viewer stepping into that moment.

My work is heavily influence by nature.  I have visited several of the US National Parks and have always been awed by the beauty and splendor of mountains, waterfalls and forests.  I believe the tactile nature of fabric makes this medium ideal for rendering such exquisite scenery.
