Original 25+ year old Cushcraft 40meter 2 Element on 7Jul2017
This 40 Meter antenna was bought in used condition in STX and used there
The antenna has been repaired several times, suspect it is 30+ years old
Photo of loading coil in each element, The original loading coils are not used in moxon
the screw holes for coax are now straight up down with hole drilled in channel for tool to tighten screw
Driven Element mounted to look at droop on boom / element
moved with us to WTX
New element to boom mount - before the final tightening of blots
Borescope camera view inside the boom, verify double wall thickness of tubing
Each time the 25G tower is hinged over, must check tree growth and trim as needed
This photo was taken from guy post that will have it's guy wires removed to fold tower over
It was 38F morning tower was tilted over
the Tribander didn't get aligned correctly
A guy rope for 80 meter vertical can be seen supporting guys
The guy rope was unhooked and then reconnected with guys on ground
Always interesting the Antenna looks bigger when it's on ground...
Taking Tailtwister out and inspecting internals / regrease & clean
Drilling holes for the mast support used for element guys
Looking down tower at moxon - the Director element is on ground and the end "Box" elements are not orientated properly
You can get idea of droop that would be present if support guys were not used on DE
Tower is pulled up so end moxon "Box" elements can be lined up parallel to boom
ladders used to reach element to turn and tighten end element tubing
and now vertical ! yeah!
better look at antenna and support ropes for elements and boom
loose rope ends can be seen - my thought is those help keep birds including owl off antenna
the director has four foot high support for guy ropes
newer tubing shows shining - the center of director was done with larger diameter tubing
DX Engineering support on materials was first class
Next Project Hygain 204 ready for crankup tower
