Formation of club by George MacDonald, KC9S George and his
wife Jane moved into Hot Springs Village in 1984 from the Chicago area
where he had lived and worked, during his career. After several
years of participation in the Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club, he and a
number of other amateurs living in the village decided to look into the
idea of forming a village radio club. They had been meeting
informally for breakfast at Mary Lee's Restaurant on a weekly basis.
The first organizational meeting was held at the Cortez Pavillion on June
1, 1990. The first slate of officers elected to office were George
MacDonald, KC9S, President; Louis Siebert, N0ELI, Vice President; Don
Thibault, W0GY, Secretary; and Tom Bjorn, WA9LBU, Treasurer. Annual
dues were set at $10.
Following is a list of those charter members who are still
members of the Village Amateur Radio
Club. |
