Group on the Wilkinson
Station
Bridge. Lloyd Fentress says the first girl is Willie Mae
Chandler, next a girl named Agnes (no last name, then Ruby
Houston. The two men on the right are William Harris and Milbern
Ray Hudnell, friends of Alma. Can you help me id the rest? |
Thurman
Evans, military portrait. |

Dad, c.
1943. |
Dad, 1943. |
|
|
Gus Ange, at a house that doesn't exist anymore. The
yellow house stands there now. |
Bill Ange, on his father Gus' mule. |
||
Alma and Doc, probably just after they got married in 1941. |
Ronald Houston, identified by Lloyd Fentress as a brother of
the aforepictured Ruby Houston. |
||
Something of a nightmarish photo, Alma had a thing for taking
pictures of people in caskets. The baby's name is Edwin Cobb, but
I don't know at what cemetery this was taken. |
Nor do I know the Cobb's relationship with Wilkinson
Station. This is Nina Cobb, identified by Teeny Ange. She
is the mother of the baby to the left. |
||
Edward Manning, apparently a good friend of Alma. He
was killed in 1944 in WWII. |
Edward Manning in uniform in front of a car. Alma had
his obit in her scrapbook. To see it, go here. |
||
Identified by Teeny Ange as Mary Lee Cooper, one of Alma's
school friends. |
Theolia Lupton in Downtown Belhaven NC. Probably Late
40s. Presumably a friend of Alma's or maybe Doc's. |
||
Wilkinson Station Road, c. 1945. Kitty id'ed as Dad,
Betty Lou Ratcliff, Bobby Ratcliff, Nellie Ange, and not sure who the
taller one is (Loris maybe?) |
Dad, playing Cowboy in the mid 40s on Wilkinson Station Road. The road was paved in the '50s, I think
Dad playing cowboy in Wilkinson Station Rd. This is an
earlier pic than the one above right...and a good view of the area. |
Nellie Ange (holding my dad) and her sister Sidney on
Wilkinson Station Rd. Probably around 1944. |
||
Alma holding my father, c. 1942. The location may be
the old Turner Sawyer farm, the land for which became Luke's second
store. That's just a guess though. |
Doc. Not sure but I think this may be a companion
picture to the one on the left. |
||
Dad believed this to be Mary Edith Waters, youngest daughter of Charlie and Aulise Stotesberry Waters. Charlie was the son of Moses Maryland Waters. | Dad and a boy named Dennis Haas playing in the road at some unknown location.
Another shot, with Alma in there. Does anyone know what location this is? | One more. They sure did like to let him play in the road didn't they? <grin> |
