Dad, Doc, and Alma in
Washington DC in the early 1950s...Kitty states she was "lost" when
this picture was taken. |
Labelled "Geneva Mooney",
Kitty says this may be Tolan's Dept. store in Belhaven. Not quite
certain of any of it though. |
||
Luke Waters in front of the
Waters home, early 1950s. The bridge across the ditch is not
something a lot of people will remember. |
Gus Ange and grandson Lloyd
A. Ange, at the back of the house where the yellow house was built, c.
1953. |
||
Jimmy Evans, son of Raymond
Evans, who was son of Bettie Carawan Evans. |
Sonja Evans, Jimmy's
sister. I think that's the yellow house in the background which
may make these early 60s pictures. |

A teacher at Pantego school
in the 50s. Kitty identified him as either a Mr. Whooten or a Mr.
Martin; Teeny says his name was Jenkins. |
George BonDurant, one of the
founders of Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City. |
||
Identified by Kitty as Beth
BonDurant, daughter of George above. However, Beth says it's not
her, she thinks it's Argie Lee Payne, a student at Roanoke at the time. |
Same yard as before.
Maybe this is Beth? Then again maybe not...she did not say. |

Above:
A little background on these two shots. To the left is obviously Roanoke Bible College in
Elizabeth City, a college that some of the Wilkinson Station people
held dear to their hearts and helped support financially, including my
own reletives. My father went there briefly. Lloyd and Teeny opined that these two buildings were the same building, only from a different angle, and it certainly looks that way until you notice slight differences (for example, the window panes are not the same. The definative answer came from Beth BonDurant herself, in an email to me 14 Oct 2004: "<>#58 (to the right above) is the back of the George BonDurant house, my home in Elizabeth City. I recognized it immediately. It is next door to the house> <>pictured from the front in #59 (to the left above), which RBC named "Wilkinson Hall" inhonor of Pattie A. Wilkinson. I'm not sure who the children are in 58> <>and 59, but I expect they are some of the Christian service campers we had on campus each summer." These pics were probably taken around 1953. > |

Doc's home in the background. |
