UNIFORM EXCHANGE |
On July 24, 2008, while at the Salem WV postal facility, I was discussing with Teresa, Member at Large clerk, the frustrations of members who do not qualify for a uniform allowance, but yet feel they are required to wear a uniform while working the window. In some offices, the postmaster will buy a few shirts for the clerk, but in others the clerk feels that it is incumbent upon him/her to purchase the uniform items with his/her own funds. It was during that conversation that we brainstormed this page. Thank you, Teresa, for your wonderful ideas and suggestions. |

As far as the purpose of this page goes, we are asking all WV APWU members, regardless of craft, to contact us if they have uniform apparel they are willing to supply another member. Please include the item’s description noting size, style, whether women’s or mens’, and it’s specific condition. For example: Size 16 women's striped clerk uniform shirt, short sleeves, seldom worn—no signs of wear and tear. Or: Three Size 17 1/2 men’s striped clerk uniform shirts, long sleeves, laundered once per week, great shape. One shirt bears a slight ink mark on left sleeve. (You get the idea.) |
Likewise, if you are in need of particular item of uniform apparel, please state the particular need. When something of that nature becomes available, you will be notified. |
Participants will be notified when an item similar to that they’ve requested is available on a first come first served basis, and all shipping costs are the responsibility of the sender. This is a no-fee, non-profit, absolutely free service from one member to another. Your personal information will be closely guarded and not published on this site for others to view. Membership and employment will be verified prior to arranging any exchanges. |
While this page is not designed to get into the arguments of whether or not the employee should purchase the uniform, it is designed to assist in the exchange of uniform items from one member to another rather than throw them out because they no longer fit or you don’t like the style. If you have questions about whether or not you are entitled to a uniform allowance, or what you should do if required by your postmaster or station manager to purchase a uniform with your own money, please contact Katrina Nusbaum, President, WVPWU. |
