The parts of the road system that are covered in this volume are the Kinai, Tokaido, and Hokurikudo. The Kinai encompasses Yamashiro, Yamato, Settsu, Izumi, and Kawachi. There are some 90 odd pages devoted to Yamashiro no Kuni, and almost 120 pages devoted to Yamato no Kuni, taking up each of the major Ha or Ke separately. These include, among others, Senjuin (Senshuin) Kei, Taema Kei, Tegai Kei, Hosho Kei, Shikkake Kei , Ryumon Kei, and Kanefusa Kei. The Tokaido encompasses 15 kuni, and the major ones in sword production are Ise and Sagami (Soshu), although all are discussed, even to the extent of those that did not have any swordsmiths to speak of. Some 60 odd pages are devoted to Soshu alone. The importance of Ise and Suruga in ancient history and legends is also touched upon. In the section on Hokurikudo, Wakasa, Kaga, Echizen, Etchu, and Echigo are covered. Like Volume IX, this book was produced using Aldus Pagemaker© in Japanese, with profuse use of kanji accompanying names, geographical locations, and dates. It comprises an 88 Page frontispiece section, 400 pages in the main section, and a 15 page glossary. A slightly truncated Table of Contents is presented below, without the page numbers.
