Anthony Wilson has been drawing for over 15 years, experimenting in mediums such as acrylic and pastel before deciding on pencil as his media of choice. Having graduated from Marietta Senior High School in 1998, he went on to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburg, where he majored in Graphic Design. Art runs in his family, and he is most happy when he is continuing this tradition.
Anthony was born in Marietta Ohio, where he currently lives, with his wife, Michele, and newborn child, Kadin. His interest in art has been lifelong and he has always particularly enjoyed drawing people. He likes working with pencil, partly because of the convenience ("you can draw almost anytime, anywhere"), but also because he finds a "special beauty in the simplicity of a pencil drawing."
Anthony does portrait commissions of people and their loved ones, and is always experimenting with new subject matter to further develop his skills in artistic expression.
The Portrait Society was founded in 1998 as a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to increase aesthetic and technical knowledge of the practicing portrait artist, artist's representatives, art students and the general public. Since then, we have grown to a membership of nearly 3,000. Each year we host hundreds of artists at educational events, workshops and conferences; mail thousands of copies of International Artist Magazine and our own The Art of the Portrait Journal to artists around the globe; provide support for emerging artists; and connect communities of artists through our State Ambassador Outreach Program.
Anthony is a Patron Member for the Portrait Society of America.
