From Jan 2012 through Jan 2015, we've been honored to host winter Autoharp workshops with Charles. Check the Photo Gallery for pictures. Although his new work schedule won't allow for a Jan 2016 visit, he promised to come back when he can!

On January 6th & 7th, 2012 Charles Whitmer visited with the club and presented Beginning & Intermediate Autoharp workshops. We enjoyed the food, fellowship, & music, and he promises to come back for more!

On May 28 & 29, Margaret returned to Abilene for a two-day mountain dulcimer workshop. On Friday night, they led a "teaching jam" to show us how to play well with others, and we did a little Sacred Harp singing. Always great to have them here!
Great workshop with Karen & Chuck Daniels!

Our two-day workshop was a grand success with 12 students, and we all learned so much! Karen started with basics (perfect for our beginners and a helpful review for those who have been playing awhile), then on the second day gave us hints/helps on special techniques to improve our playing. On Monday evening we had a slow jam with club members, and Karen taught us how to read the chords from the guitar player's hand position. This was so helpful and several folks were already putting this skill into practice at our regular Tuesday evening acoustic jam.
Chuck gave us a workshop on autoharp repair and maintenance, plus kept busy during the whole time making sure our 'harps are in the best possible condition.
Karen & Chuck said they had a great time and would like to come back next year after Winterfest (held in Irving each year). Of course we told them we would love for them to come back, so they will be in touch with us after they find out the schedule for the 2012!
