Scholarship List: 07-08

  • Questbridge Scholarship

    • Questbridge National College Match pairs outstanding high school seniors with admission and full 4-year scholarships to some of the country's leading colleges.
    • Current high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence in the face of economic obstacles are invited to apply. Many past award recipients have also been among the first generation in their family to attend college.
    • The National College Match application is free of charge. You may apply online at www.questbridge.org.
    • Applications are due by September 30, 2007.
  • Wendy's High School Award

    • Wendy's is looking for both male and female student-athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities.
    • Eligibility for application is limited exclusively to men and women whose senior year of high school is the 2007-08 academic year, who have at least a "B" grade average, and participate in at least one sport.
    • Log on to www.wendysheisman.com to apply.
    • Deadline to apply is October 1st
    • Applicants should plan on submitting their application by September 23rd to allow time for the review.
  • Outstanding Students of America

    • Scholarships program available for high school seniors. Absolutely no fee associated with this scholarship. Scholarships are payable to the college of the students’ choice. Scholarship applications may be copied from website at www.outstandingstudentsofamerica.com.

    • Deadline is a postmarked deadline of October 10th of each year.
  • Prudential Spirit of Community Award

    • The Prudential Spirit of Community Award recognizes students in middle and high school grades who have demonstrated exemplary community service.
    • Application can be completed online at www.prudential.com/spirit or www.principals.org/prudential. Once you have completed your online application, print it out, sign it, and have a parent sign it.
    • If you need a paper application form, you may call 877-525-8491 toll-free.
    • Submit your printed application to the CHS Counseling Center no later than October 31, 2007.
  • TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

    • Scholarships for high school entrepreneurs:
      • One $5000 scholarship
      • Five $1000 Scholarships
      • Scholarship is doubled if the student attends TCU

    • Applications due November 1, 2007
  • SAE Engineering Scholarship

    • (Applications available in the counseling center)
    • Award Amount: Scholarships range in value from $1000 - $10,000
    • Eligibility requirements - All applicants must:
      • Be a high school senior at the date of application (Sept 1 - Dec 1)
      • Intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related science (examples of related science include: math, chemistry, physics, biology, technologies, computer science)
      • Be a citizen of the United States at the time of application
      • Meet minimum requirements with regard to grade point average, SAT 1 Reasoning Test and/or ACT as outlined in the individual Requirements of each scholarship
      • Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 30, 2008.
      • Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2007.
  • Boys & Girls Club

    • The Boys and Girls Club has a Club Service Program. This program allows volunteers not only to get credit for public service but also to receive compensation sent to their academic institution. Participants that render up to 300 hours per year for up to two years will be credited with $2,362.50 to their school. This is the equivalent of 30 hours per week for 10 weeks of summer at 6 hours per day Monday to Friday.

  • Texas A&M Army ROTC Scholarship

    • Army ROTC provides hands-on Leadership development that builds discipline and confidence to ensure success in college and in life. Texas A&M Army ROTC can provide financial support from the start.
    • At Texas A&M, an Army ROTC four year scholarship is worth in excess of $46,000, and there are 100 4-year scholarships available for next years incoming freshman class.

  • Texas United States Senate Youth Leadership Program

    • The Texas United States Senate Youth Program is for high school students who demonstrate leadership and an interest in government. Two Texas students will be selected. Students must be a junior or senior in High School. The William Randolph Hearst Foundation pays all expenses for the week-long Washington stay, including transportation, hotel accommodations, and meals. Each delegate is awarded a $5000 college scholarship for undergraduate studies by William Randolph Hearts Foundation.
