Cable
in the Classroom
Founded
in 1989, Cable in the Classroom is a public-service initiative of
the cable television industry in which local cable operators and
national cable programmers provide schools with free basic cable
service. The program represents an investment of over $420 million
by the cable industry to enhance the resources of schools with more
than 540 hours of commercial-free educational television programming
each month. Cox also supports Cable in the Classroom Institute,
created to teach the effective use of computers and the Internet.
The Institute provides teachers and parents with an educational
training program that includes a traveling laptop lab; virtual workshops;
and four computer labs in Washington, D.C., sponsored by The Smithsonian
Institution.
Through Cox
Cable in the Classroom, our company provides local schools with
free subscriptions to the Cable in the Classroom monthly program
guide, technical support, teacher training, as well as critical
viewing workshops.
