In the same gentle way she lived, Lorena J. Heckler, 91, of Parkersburg died March 31, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital.


She was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Harrisville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wilbur and Ada Jackson Conaway.

She was co-owner, with her late husband, of H&I Wholesale and during this time was a member of WV Wholesaler's Association and Federated Merchandising Association.
She graduated from Cairo High School and was an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Rebecca Circle. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and is survived by three daughters, Joan Stutler and husband, Bernard, of Vienna, Carolyn Dodrill and her husband, William, of Parkersburg and Lois Flanigan of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Richard Stutler and wife, Sally, Susan Archer and husband, Tim, Steven Geibel and wife, Tami, Jon Geibel and wife, Kimberly, and Kristin McDaniel and husband, Brant; three step grandchildren, Mark Dodrill and his wife, Johna, Bryan Dodrill and his wife, Joann, and Joy Dodrill; and six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Stutler, Justin Stutler, Sara Archer, Anna Archer, Benjamin Archer and Alexander Geibel. She is also survived by her caregivers, Joyce Wells, Virginia Hedrick, Karen Yeager and Dianna Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Heckler and grandson, Jeffrey B. Flanigan.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Don Maxson officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
