CITATION:

"For professional achievement in the superior performance of his duties
while serving as Assistant Weapons Officer in USS GEORGE BANCROFT (SSBN
643)(GOLD) during the period November 1988 to August 1990. Displaying
exceptional leadership, management abilities, and resourcefulness, Lieutenant
Faxlanger was a driving force behind the weapons department's consistently
outstanding results. His effective nuclear weapons security training
program enabled the crew to certify for TRIDENT I during the post-overhaul
technical assist. His dynamic supervision ensured completion of two
strategic deterrent patrols with 100 percent weapons system readiness. His
outstanding grasp of MK 48 torpedo tactics as weapons control coordinator
enabled the ship to earn a tactical effectiveness factor of 98 during a tactical
readiness evaluation. Lieutenant Faxlanger's exceptional professional
ability, initiative, and loyal dedication to duty throughout reflected great
credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service."
