Between the 1940s and 1950s, significant discrepancies arose in the comics published by National Comics (now DC Comics). Some tales had Clark (Superman) Kent working for the Daily Planet (found on Earth-1), yet being a member of the Justice Society of America (Earth-2). Some writers and editors later explained that these adventures occurred on an Alternate Earth-2, which was predominately a Golden Age world with some of the newer Silver Age elements mixed in.
