Earth-3 was a world of strange occurrences. Columbus discovered Europe. England won its independence from the United States. President John Wilkes Booth was assassinated by Abraham Lincoln. Super-powered criminals were the norm and the world had only one hero, Alex Luthor.

The worst criminals of Earth-3 were the members of the Crime Syndicate of America. The CSA discovered the existence of the Multiverse and attempted to defeat the JLA and JSA during one of their annual meetings. The members of the CSA included:

Ultra-Man: similar to Superman except that he gained new powers when exposure to Kryptonite.

Superwoman: an evil Amazon.

Power Ring: a crook given a mystical ring.

Owl-Man: a super-genius with mental abilities.

Johnny Quick: who gained his speed powers from a chemical concoction.

After assisting with Ultra-Man's defeat at the hands of the Earth-1 and Earth-2 Supermen, Alex Luthor used his scientific genius to develop weaponry to combat the CSA. Luthor later married the Lois Lane of Earth-3 and they had a son, Alexander. Before their world was destroyed in the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Luthor and his wife sent their son to the Earth-1 Justice League Satellite Headquarters to save his life.
