Earth-C and Earth-C Minus

Once again, humor was revived at DC when Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew were introduced in a special insert story in New Teen Titan #16. The story opened with Superman trying to stop a meteor from striking Earth-1. Superman and the meteor are pulled through a dimensional rift into a universe where sentient animals are dominant. The meteor exploded and showered chunks down upon Earth-C. One chunk fill into the windowsill "carrot patch" box of cartoonist Roger Rodney Rabbit and energized the carrots so that when Rodney ate one, he became the super powered Captain Carrot. Another chunk fell into a vat of molten pig iron along with Peter Porkchops, who became the porcine powerhouse, Pig Iron! Yet another piece fell into the shell of Timmy Joe Terrapin who became the super fast, Fastback. Other heroes who gained their powers from pieces of the meteor include Rubberduck (who could stretch), Yankee Poodle (who possessed "animal magnetism"), American Eagle, Alley-Kat Abra (a magician), and Little Cheese (a mouse who could shrink).

As a cartoonist, Rodney Rabbit worked on a comic book titled Just'a Lotta Animals, whose characters resembled animal versions of the members of the Justice League of America. These characters were said to live on Earth-C Minus.
