Ages ago on Earth-Omega, a young scientist named Kell Mossa sought to discover the creation of his Universe (and thus the Multiverse). Assuming he'd be safe inside an anti-matter chamber, Mossa began his experiment unwittingly exposing the existence of the Multiverse to the Anti-Monitor (the main baddy in Crisis on Infinite Earth). The Anti-Monitor quickly learned that destruction of any positive universe increased the size of his own anti-matter universe and increased his power and he began destroying universe after universe (hence Crisis on Infinite Earths!). Mossa survived the destruction of his universe and discovered that he had the power to travel from universe to universe to spread word of the danger of the Anti-Monitor. Mossa renamed himself Pariah since he'd become a bearer of bad tidings.
