Pleasant Preston 1803-1856

Bedford Co., Virginia

 Pleasant Preston b.5-20-1803 d.4-23-1856, son of Stephen Preston and Elizabeth Pullen, married on July 18, 1833, Annis Elizabeth Davis b.ca.1806, the daughter of Thomas and Rachel Dixon Davis. Thomas was the son of Samuel and Annis Lipscomb Davis. She died 10-21-1891. They had 7 children:

  1. Samuel Davis Preston b.7-20-1834 d.4-15-1888, married Texie G. Saunders on 12-5-1861. They had 6 children:
    • Sallie Preston b.7-30-1865 married on 2-17-1886 William P. Clark in Lynchburg, VA.
    • Annis B. Preston b.11-11-1867 married 5-8-1889 Robert Strother.
    • Texie S. Preston b.<1862> married 1-24-1880 ? Thomas Blair Preston.
    • Thomas S. Preston <1864> married Nannie E. McCraw Preston, widow of Samuel Stephen Preston.
    • Pleasant Preston b.<1862> married M. Roberta White.
    • George M. Preston <1869>.

      • Note: It was pointed out that I had two John B. Prestons, one the son of Samuel Davis Preston and the other, below, the brother of Samuel Davis Preston. My source, 'Preston Genealogy' by William Bowker Preston does show it this way. I believe however, that John would be the brother of Samuel. Any help appreciated.

  2. Thomas Stephen Preston b.8-15-1840 was an attorney at law in Lynchburg, Va.
  3. Pleasant Preston Jr. b.2-14-1843.
  4. Rachel Preston b.4-3-1846 c.7-30-1892.
  5. Zalinda Preston b.12-20-1848 d.8-23-1852.
  6. John Bowker Preston b.12-20-1851 married Juliette C. Hilburn (or Hildreth ?) on 7-7-1891 and moved to Bowling Green, KY. He was a professor of languages in Ogden College. They had one daughter, Mary Annis Preston.
  7. George Micajah Preston b.4-24-1856 was a practicing physician in Lynchburg, Va.
