Source for the following is "Preston Genealogy" by William Bowker Preston, pub. 1900.

This line starts with a William Preston, Esq., who by his wife Jane Wharfe, daughter of Richard Wharfe, Esq., had a son the Rev. Stephen Preston, B.D. of Louth Lincolnshire, formerly fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford.

Stephen Preston b.xxxx d.12-5-1840 married Harriet Dobbs b.xxxx d.5-24-1877 in 1833. Harriet was the youngest daughter of Thomas Bennet Dobbs (??), Esq., of Saremby, Lincolnshire. Rev. Stephen Preston and his wife Harriet left one son:

1. John Wilby Preston b.6-22-1836 d.xxxx of Dalby, Lincolnshire, M.A.J.P. Lieut. Col. 1st Vol. Batt. Lincolnshire Regt. since 1886. John married on 1-12-1859 Julia Travers, second daughter of Rev. John B. Travers, M.A. Vicar of Numby, Lincolnshire, J.P. They had 5 children:
1. Henry Stephen Preston b.11-29-1860 married on 3-12-1891 Margaret Katherine Stockdale, only daughter of W. D. Stockdale Esq., of Skendleby Lodge near Spilsby.
2. Charles Travers Preston b.1-5-1862 d. bef.1900.
3. George Herbert Preston b.11-10-1868 d.xxxx .
4. Julia Mabel Preston b.3-11-1863 d. bef.1900.
5. Harriet Mary Preston b.5-10-1877 d.xxxx.
