John Spindle, Jr. b.ca.1742 d.ca.1805 in Spotsylvania Co., VA, son of John Spindle, Sr. and Bridget Martin, m. ca.1764, Mary Barbee b. in King & Queen Co., VA, ad. of John Barbee and Anne Miller, and died bef.1805 in Essex Co., VA..   1. Lewis Spindle b.ca.1766 d.bet.1810/12. Born in Essex County, VA, m. Elizabeth Gray. Lewis died in Caroline Co., VA. Elizabeth d. aft.1823 then living in Culpeper Co., VA. In April 1797, Lewis Spindle proposed a road from John Hord's Mill to Port Royal that will pass the School House and the land where Timothy Usher formerly lived. On 2-5-1807 James Miller sold Lewis Spindle a tract of 600 acres adjacent to the land of Reuben Sanders, Mrs. Stern and others. The 1810 census shows Lewis had 29 slaves. Known children of Lewis and Elizabeth:

  2. Anne Spindle b.ca.1768 d.bef.1803 m. ca.1789 Philip Gray. Anne and Philip had 4 children:
  3. Barbee Spindle b.6-22-1773 d.4-5-1838. Barbee was both born and died in Essex Co., VA. He married (1) on 8-24-1795 Rebecca Jones, dau. of Erasmus Jones. Rebecca died 4-29-1808. Barbee m. (2) on 11-24-1809 Anne (Ann) R. Edmondson. Ann died 4-15-1818. Barbee m. (3) on 6-27-1821 in Caroline Co., VA., Frances Gatewood b.3-1-1789 d.9-20-1873. Frances was the dau. of Richard Gatewood and Elizabeth Bowcock. Barbee had 12 children:

Doesn't give name of husband. Elizabeth and Leonard had 3 children:
