Glass Replacement and Reputty

Occasionally, while performing a window cleaning service we come across cracked or broken glass and more frequently we encounter dried and brittle glazing putty. These are problems we can solve with great expertise.  

In fact, when it comes to glazing putty, we are one of next to none that actually still do the job the right way, the "old fashioned" way in this case. Most glaziers now days prefer the much faster but far inferior use of caulking rather than glazing putty.  This is not only a poor choice from an appearance point of view, but it is also a much shorter lived repair mechanically.  When properly installed, glazing putty will out last the urethane caulking glaziers typically use by several decades.

Tim carefully inserts a new piece of glass making sure it is seated properly to avoid potential cracking as the structure shifts over time. Tim installs glazing putty the old fashioned way which is pretty much a lost art these days. This type of putty will last several decades longer than the caulking that glaziers typically use these days. After prepping, priming, reputtying, oil base priming and caulking, this window unit is now ready for an acrylic primer and two coats of premium 30 yr. paint. Shaun and Tim carefully cut away excess paint and primer leaving a crisp finely detailed edge around the perimeter of each window pane. Tim and Shaun remove all of the rock hard 65 year old putty, rust reform and prime the metal frames, replace any cracked glass and reputty for another several decades of beautiful windows. Even with 65 years of wear and tear, properly reputtying has restored that beautifully crisp beveled look these windows originally had when they were new.
