Intro: This is part of my layers upon layers series. (lame name for a series I know it’s just temporary until I think of a better name) Will probably be the second to last in the series. I wanted to do a texas cowboy accent angel guide, showing my main human character what heaven is like.
Angels
Hi. I’m Frank. I’m an Angel, class of 91, Specialty, Tour Guide to be exact. We Angels never get enough credit in the stories. We’re kind of in the background; nobody notices us. Well, that’s all about to change, ‘cause I’m hear to tell you about all the Angels and their jobs. I guess the best way to tell is to show, so come on in to Heaven. We’ll have to travel from Earth to Heaven, but don’t you worry. With all my training in school, I’ll get us there in a jiffy (maybe lickety split?). Heaven used to be a lot closer to earth, but once an astronaut just missed the pearly gates and we had to move it out of ya”lls dimension. That was God’s plan all along; he just wanted to be close to ya’ll to keep an eye on everything in Earth. See that’s the thing with God he sees everything before it happens and he has it all planned out.
Oh, well here we are, the Pearly Gates. Old Bob is the gatekeeper. In his 3,576th year he went a little crazy. Said humans were going to take over heaven if we didn’t be careful. Everybody laughed at him but God. God understood everything about us. I wish you humans would realize that. Thanks Bob, you always were the best gatekeeper I’ve ever known (the only gatekeeper I’ve ever known).
“Watch out for those humans, they‘re coming, I’m telling you,” Bob said.
“We will, we will,” I replied (with a wink to you). Ah here it is. I never get used to the site. Beautiful, isn’t it? What’s that you say, Blinding? Oh how could I be so forgetful! Here take these, the new IGod sunglasses. ____God put a few things in your earth that are kinda like Heaven. Ya’ll have mountains; we have giant rocks bigger than Mount Everest. You’ll have sunsets, we have two. Ya’ll have animals, we have so many species America’s scientists couldn’t classify all of them. I tell you, it’s a wonderful place. I never get tired of Heaven. Well we’ve got a long ways so we better get started. Over there on the grass that’s our school facility. What facility you say? Oh, I forget, we do it different up here. We used to have it different, but God decided the students could work better outside. Yes sir, it’s a much better concept than on earth. Students get to enjoy and experience God’s beautiful creation which enhances learning. Something those on earth should think about and maybe try (if you’re smart). Now you ask why school’s in heaven isn’t everyone perfect. Now that brings up a good point. Ya’ll on earth have an incorrect view of this point. Only God is perfect, now we’re not sinners like humans but we don’t always make the best decisions and aren’t always on the same page with the maker. Are school’s are for angels, newcomers such as yourself, although you’re an exception cause you’ve not actually died yet and are just passing by.
