Daniel served in the military 84th Illinois Volunteer Infanty in the Army, Civil War. Dan served in the 84th Illinois Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.

Daniel Mack and Katherine O'Dea were married on 1 January 1866 at St. James Church in Rock Island, Rock Island County, IL. Katherine O'Dea was born on 20 December 1844 in Craggin, County Clare, Ireland. She died on 6 December 1915 in Preemption, Mercer County, IL.
