Her husband, Nathan, was a farmer, having land in the Belmont neighborhood in both Warren and Henderson Counties. Today some of his descendents still own and farm their land. He had been a Civil War soldier from February 28, 1862 to April 13, 1866. Nathan and Emily had a total of 10 children. Two died in infancy. The other eight are listed here.
