7. William Henry Whelan was born on 28 December 1858 in Waukegan, Lake County, IL. He died on 11 August 1913. He was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, CO. William moved with his family to western Illinois. As a young man, William was a cowboy and rode the range. In Red Oak, Iowa, where he had gone to visit his brother Joseph, he met his wife Rose. They moved to Hemingford, Nebraska, for homestead farming and remained there the next seven years. Next they resided in Bancroft, Iowa, for two years and later moved to Denver, Colorado, where they lived until William died. Willian was interested in horticulture and was very successful in the field. He was also a rural mail carrier for a number of years. After William's death, Rose made her home in Los Angeles, California. Their sons James H. and Thomas Edward were twins.

William Henry Whelan and Rose E. McGovern were married on 9 October 1888 in Red Oak, Montgomery County, IA. Rose E. McGovern was born about 1869 in Illinois. She died on 27 December 1963. She was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, CO.

James H. Whelan was born on 26 January 1895 in Hemingford, Box Butte County, NE. He died on 14 June 1920. He was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, CO. James and Thomas Edward were twins. Before he was one year old, his parents move to Bancroft, Iowa, and later to Denver, Colorado, where he grew up. James served his county as of member of the United States Armed Forces in France during World War I.
