Davilectros #3 and #4

[ Green Davilectro ] [ Green Davilectro Body ] [ Davilectro #4 ]

The Seafoam Green guitar with the mismatched neck was made from half of a mahogany body blank; I used the other half to make my folk-art guitar with the Burns pickups. This is the first time I've really worked with nitrocellulose lacquer and it came out decent. Not perfect, but acceptable. Guitar ReRanch has nitrocellulose lacquer in aerosol cans; very convenient for the amateur. The pickup switch is the original switch from the Mako, the pickups and pots are reissue Danelectros and the neck and bridge were bought off eBay. Sounds kind of plinky, like I remember the guitars in Sears and Western Auto and Monkey Wards sounding in the 1960's. Perfect!

Davilectro #4 was put together from a Korean Dan-o neck, an alder body cut out with a jigsaw and a 1965 Silvertone-branded Harmony made wired pickguard assembly. Those are Rowe Industries pickups on it. I got the red Dakaware knobs from Leeds Electronics. The finish is my feeble attempt at a sunburst.
