Results of Year End Hold 'em 2005!!!

It's not often that I get to toot my own horn, so here goes...I WON!!!    Okay enough about me.  A total of 21 players showed up for the Year End Hold 'em Event.  And there were some <cough> J.J. <cough> who said that no one would come out for a $50 tournament.  Special thanks to our 3 starting dealers Brynn, Chris, and Andy, you all really added a nice touch to the game, and helped the night come off without a hitch.  The food was great too, especially the bean dip, courtesy of Julie!  I thank you, although my waistline is all the worse for it.  The final rundown of the evening:  1st Brian "pocket 9's are my friends" Murray (me), 2nd Robert "A6 vs A8 is not a race" Riordan, 3rd Matt "I had to sell my soul" Jackson, 4th TJ "he's alive" Sellers, 5th Sam "you mean I'm in the money?" McLain, and 6th Jim "I have to let someone else win every once in a while" Blankenship.  Thanks to all who played.  Win or Lose I hope you all had a great time!

Big Congratulations to Jim Blankenship...

...on his PHENOMENAL "Hat Trick" performance at the Decmeber 10th game.  Jim took out the Bounty, and although he suffered the "Bad Beat" (when his full house was beaten by a better full house,) battled it out to the end and WON the Tournament.  On sheer principle I think he should have the Bounty on his head for the next game!  Make sure to congratulate him...or at least be gunning for him at the next game.  Way to go Jim!

I've been slacking...

I've kinda slacked off on keeping the website updated.  Sorry gang, but for those of you who have been attending over the past few months, then you'll know we've been having a great time.  Heck, I even won once!  I'll try to do better about keeping the site up to date in the future.  Work just keeps getting in the way.  Until I can run a card room for a living...that's just gonna have to happen.  Here are a few more pictures collected from one of the recent games.

Again special thanks to Eric S. for hosting another top-notch event on June 4th.  This 30-PERSON EVENT ended with Sam McClain coming out on TOP!  Congrats.

Hopefully you have all enjoyed the extra games...I know I have!  Looking forward to many more.

No Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament

Sorry, this one didn't get posted initially to the website.  I did get it out in email and although it didn't appear at first we would have much of a crowd, as always you guys pulled through.  We had 15 people there for a great tournament.  As usual it was $15 buy-in +$2 ( $15 for the prize pool + $1 for the Bounty Jackpot + $1 for the Bad Beat Jackpot.)
One $15 re-buy allowed in the first 90 minutes.  I hate to announce it BUT the BAD BEAT JACKPOT has been WON!  Jerry took the jackpot after suffering a loss while holding the ACE-HIGH flush to a full house.  It was truly a bad beat since when the dust settled, he was down to the felt.  (Wonder if Kinnish still has the truck?)  Anyway, Jerry pocketed the $90 jackpot, well actually he bought back in to the game with part of it.  Congrats to him!  The winners on the night were Sam M and Erik P, who due to the late hour, split the 1st and 2nd place, and called it a tie.  Thanks, since I had to work the next AM.  Eric S finished 3rd, and I limped my way to 4th place.  (Yeah, A-7 is an underdog hand to A-10)

Hope you all had a good time.  We'll do it again real soon.

ALSO, Big Thanks to Eric S for hosting his larger than life tournament on April 30th.  23 people showed up for that one.  Andy took the top spot, I finished 2nd, Greg 3rd, and Sam 4th.  I think that's right...correct me if I'm wrong.

Results from the March 19, 2005 Tournament:

J.R. Ruble took the Bounty Jackpot, for taking out Shannon Green.  Tom Dickerson walked away with 3rd Place, leaving Jerry Johnson and Brian Murray (yours truly) to battle it out.  After an hour of back and forth head-to-head play it was then 1:00AM, and blinds were at the $1,600/$3,200 level!  We were both tired...I knew I had to work this morning, and John (who was still dealing for us) was already in trouble for being out so late.  Jerry and I agreed to call it a night and split the pot.

The Bad Beat Jackpot is around $55.00 dollars now, and continues to grow.  If no one wins it soon, we might have to consider investing a portion of it on some KEM cards, or maybe even a real felt covered table...or pay off the national debt or something.  We can discuss it at the next game.

Speaking of the next game, when do we want to do it again?  Let me know your opinions.  April Fools Day is a FRIDAY, and I think it is an UNDER-CELEBRATED holiday.  It doesn't have an Easter Bunny, or Ol'St. Nick.  I think April Fools Day needs...A Poker Claus!!!  All the good little boys and girls get Pocket Rockets to play with.  :)  Anyway, it would be an excuse for a CARD GAME, let me know, when you'd like to get together again, and we'll do it.

I hope everybody had a GREAT TIME!  Let's do it again real soon.

3/10/2005

ALL APOLOGIES for not updating the website in quite some time...between holidays, traveling, life, an inaccessible ftp server, and the occassional card game I just didn't make it happen.  SORRY!  But I'll try a little harder from now on.  I know there were some tourney's that didn't get "documented" here but I'm afraid my memory has faded.  Wait a minute...I think I won one of those.  :)

I do remember our last encounter on March 4th.  12 people showed up for a two table event.  Not really a bad turnout, considering there was a competing game that night, and several regulars were out of town.  Yes, Chris and Laura, I understand...the HARLEY came first.  Jim Blankenship emerged victorious that night, followed by Eric Pugh and and T J Sellers.  Way to go guys!  The Bad Beat Jackpot continues to grow...it is somewhere above 40 bucks now.  Remember to take it home, you've only gotta get beat when you're holding the Ace High Flush, using BOTH of your cards.  How hard could that be?

We've kind of slacked off on the Eagle's games as well.  Just not enough hours in a day, but mainly because the poker room is small and the Pinochle brigade has successfully camped out there.

How about a little planning ahead...anyone up for a game next Saturday March 19th?  Let's shoot for a 6:00pm start time at my house.  Everyone really seems to like the $15.00 buy in level, with one rebuy in the first 90 minutes.  If you think it's too much or too little, please speak up.  Everyone will start out with the usual 1,000 in tournament chips and a fun time will be had by all.  Attendance cap will be around 24 players.  JJ and I have discussed this at length...and we know we can run 3 tables at my house.  Beyond that, we're gonna need a new place to play.  Then again, I like the group that we've got.  And with this base of players, the smaller pick up games we throw together are bigger than they used to be.  AND a good time is had by all.

Hope to see you all there!
