The Walk

The walk from Moonstone to Houda Point is about 0.8 mile one way. We follow the north side of Little River to the ocean, then north below rugged sea cliffs, past boulders and glistening pools to steps up to Houda Point. We pass a small waterfall, a sea cave and Camel Rock, teeming with sea birds.

Such a delight!  But, safety first... We must plan in advance, and take the tides and surf conditions into account. The photo shows our route from Moonstone to Houda Point submerged at high tide. I prefer this walk when the tide is minus one foot or lower. If you don’t mind getting wet, you may get through when the tide is a little higher. However, especially in stormy weather, the ocean surges in and out unpredictably, and the ocean here is cold and unforgiving.
