My name is James E. Watts, and I live in
Wayne, WV. The hobbies I
enjoy the most are listed here and the hyperlinks will provide more specific
information about each area of interest.
One of my favorite pastimes is playing the
mandolin. I
love acoustic music and particularly Bluegrass Music.
I am also an active Amateur Radio Operator (also known as a
"ham" operator). My licensed call with the Federal Communications Commission
is W8GN (phonetically that's Whiskey Eight Golf November).
One of my favorite nets is "The Eyebank Net" and it meets daily at 19:45 eastern
standard time and at 20:45 eastern daylight savings time on frequency 3.970.000.
I enjoy
Appalachian Culture and I believe that we need to
actively work to preserve our heritage, for this is not only a lifestyle
for many of us, but a way of life. When Appalachian Culture
and Music are discussed, it will almost always lead to one instrument, the
Mountain
Dulcimer. This instrument was made and voiced right here in the Appalachian
Mountains many years ago.
