Well the big project for 2009 was creating A Flying Crank Ghost (FCG) prop for the graveyard (instructions, pictures and video follow).

There are a number of how-to videos and websites devoted to the immortal FCG. Doug Ferguson created the concept however his website Phatasmechanics.com has been retired. The Monster Page of Halloween Projects has an entire section devoted to FCG posts.

To save myself some heartache (and what remaining hair I have), I purchased a fully assembled rig from MonsterGuts.com.

I have used them before for prop parts and highly recommend them for both quality and customer service. When the rig arrived with one of the arms bent during shipment it was promptly replaced by MonsterGuts, no questions, and hassle free.

I feel that the extra expense was worth it, but if you choose to build your own FCG rig there are excellent written and video tutorials on the net including a special section on Monster Page of Halloween Projects. There are also some great instructions on creating your ghost out there too.
