Not sure that the Major is his rank in the military and the L. is Levander, need more investigation.

Major married Betsey SHORES-[122] [MRIN:48], daughter of Wiley SHORES-[138] and Unknown, about 1823. Betsey was born in Smith County, Tennessee.

Their children were:

+ 10 M i. Levander SYKES-[1] was born in Oct 1824 in Smith County, Tennessee and died on 13 Mar 1912 in Johnson County, Clarksville, Arkansas.
