This section is on the Runes. This is a magical alphabet that was in use by the Germans, Norse, and Anglo-Saxon peoples. There were other tribes throughout Northern Europe that used similar runic alphabets. These letters were used to designate different forces of nature. It was believed that you could use the particular rune to call upon the force of nature it designated. This made the letters magical in and of themselves. I am going to just give a real basic overview of each of the Runes. If you would like more in depth material to read on them, I recommend THE RUNES: Their Uses in Divination and Magic by Lisa Peschel. This is a good book on the hands on uses of the Runes.

This first rune is the blank rune. WYRD is the cosmic power of FATE.

FEHU is the rune of FULFILLMENT.

URUZ is the rune of CHANGES.

THURISAZ is a rune of PROTECTION and LUCK.

ANSUZ is the rune of the SPOKEN WORD.

RAIDHO is a rune of TRAVEL and MOVEMENT.

KENAZ is a rune of CREATIVITY.

GIFU is the GIFT rune. This is the only rune with no reversed interpretation.

Another of the positive runes, WUNJO is the rune of JOY.

HAGALL represents ALL FORCES OUTSIDE OF YOUR CONTROL.

NIED is one of the great runes of DELAY. It counsels a need for patience.

ISA is a rune of DELAYS and FRUSTRATIONS. It councils a cessation of all activities until a better time.

JERA is the rune of HARVEST. A return for all the hard work you have invested.

EIHWAZ is a rune of PROTECTION.

PERDRHO is the MYSTERY rune.

EOHL is the rune of FRIENDSHIP.

SIGEL is a rune of VICTORY and GREAT POWER.

TIR is the other rune of VICTORY and represents SUCCESS IN ANY COMPETITION.

BEORC is a rune of FERTILITY and BIRTH.

EHWAZ is a rune of PHYSICAL MOVEMENT and CHANGE.

MANNAZ is the rune of HUMANKIND. It signifies our interdependence.

LAGAZ is a rune of INTUITIVE KNOWLEDGE. You should always listen to your intuition when this rune comes up.

ING is the rune of SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION.

DAEG is a rune of INCREASE and GROWTH.

OTHEL is the rune of POSSESSIONS.
