My Book Of Shadows
Every Wiccan will have a place where they keep all of their recipes and spells. Here they will keep information on herbs, stones and anything pertaining to the old religion. This is also where they will record all the important happenings in their lives. I say a place, because until recently that place would have been a book. Now with computers, many have placed these books on diskette. These books contained information that was thought to be a shadow of the reality of the other world. Hence, the name, Book of Shadows. Mine is in a book, and I am in the process of moving it here. This will take time. Again, I ask for your patience.
Before we go any further, I want to take just a second to mention something very important when using magick...ETHICS. For anything you do in life there is a price to be paid. In Christianity, it's basicly said to "do unto others as you would have done to yourself". In the Wicca religion, it's a little more practical. Silver Ravenwolf stated it best I think when she stated, "Ever mind the rule of three, three times what thou givest returns to thee. This lesson well thou must learn, thee only gets what thou dost earn". No matter what you do with magick, it will come back to you 3 times. So if you are doing spells to help people and the world around you, this you will get back. If you choose to use magick for wrong-doing and manipulation, this will also come back to you. The choice of course is entirely up to the person choosing to use magick. I can tell you my beliefs and all that I know to be true, but I cannot answer for anyone elses' actions. We all choose our own destiny. And the choice to risk 3 fold bad karma, is entirely up to you. Please choose wisely.
Magick is not the flashing lights and special effects that you see in the movies. It's a quiet shifting of energy...sending energy in the direction necessary to create needed change. Many times the effects are so subtle, that you do not even notice the result, until the spell is finished. Magick also does not always require props and special effects. Herbs and wands and cauldrons give us a physical representation to focus upon to help focus the energy we are sending. If you are good at focusing these are not necessary to magick. The phrase "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it", is a true statement. Wishing is just another form of magick. And if you wish for something you are sending that request to the universe with the request for what you want. All people do this, and most have no knowledge of the fact that they are performing a pagan rite when they do. *Smile* Knowledge really can be a dangerous thing...lol.
This next section will be dealing with a little of everything. Stones, bath salts, candles, colors, and just a mixed jumble of other things. I work with a lot of Nature. And I don't work with just one or two elements. I love them all. Enjoy.
