Elementals

As each of us take our journey into the makings of our being, we hear of different beings along the way. Many of these beings are considered either make-believe or mythological. I know that it was highly frowned upon, when as a child I would talk about Faeries. To be totally honest, it was more than frowned upon. But, the fact is that I knew of their existence, and refused to stop believing in them. Just because others didn't believe, made no difference to me. I also believed in the spirits within trees, and conversed with these freely. lol.

As I got older, and found myself drawn more and more to Wicca, I found out that these beings had names. I wasn't the only person to ever know of their existence. This opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me.

The beings discussed on this page are Elementals. The description I am using comes from Ted Andrews' book: Enchantment of the Faerie Realm. He states that "the forces of nature are often classified according to one of the four kinds of expression--earth, water, air and fire. Operating at the most primal level with these expressions of force in the natural world are beings called "elementals". Those working with the force of earth are called gnomes. Those working with the water force are undines. Those working with the air are sylphs and those with the expressions of fire are the salamanders. Elementals are the building blocks of nature. They are close to being true energy and consciousness, but they have not developed enough to truly take on a personality. (This means that Faeries and Elves are not Elementals. They have their own classification; although all of these beings fall into the category of Angelic).

Below I have listed the four categories of Elemental beings, and given descriptions on who and what they are.

Earth Elementals

Air Elementals
