Edmond Preston, son of David Preston and Judith Scott Hollingsworth, b.9-14-1814 d.3-16-1893 m. on 11-12-1840 Phebe Hannah Hoskins b.1-13-1821 d.12-18-1909, 10th child of Nathaniel Hoskins 1774-1840 and Elizabeth Cheyney 1784-1825. Phebe was born near Pimlico, MD but at the age of four moved near Bel Air. Edmond and Phebe lived at "Cecils Adventure". They celebrated their 50th wedding aniversary in 1890. Both are buried in Little Falls Friends burial ground. Edmond and Phebe had 8 children:

  1. Isaac Cheyney Preston b.11-9-1841 d.10-3-1915, known as "I-Chey", m. on 12-7-1871 at Springfield, IL Jane or Jennie Columbia Logan b.6-2-1848 d.12-17-1927 the dau. of Elizabeth W. Bowling and James Madison Logan. James Logan was a miller and sold flour at $200 a barrel during the Civil War and was rated quite a rich man. "I-Chey" and family moved from a farm in southwest Illinois to Galesburg where they lived until his death. Isaac and Jane had one child:
  2. David Preston, 2nd child of Edmond Preston and Phebe Hoskins, b.9-25-1843 d.10-22-1900 m. on 12-25-1867 his first cousin Harriet Andrews Hoskins b.5-22-1843/44 d.3-3-1926. David was a druggist and owned his own drugstore in Philadelphia. Their home was a farm called "Dunkale" about 5 miles from Franklinville. David and Harriet had 7 children:
    1. Jessie Preston b.7-19-1869 d.2-22-1908 m. on 5-17-1893 James Levergood Polk b.12-17-1868 d.11-31-1933. Jessie was born at "Dunkale" farm and married at her parents home in Philadelphia. James was an editor and was the son of Dr. Charles George Polk and Phebe Yocum Levergood. Dr. Polk's father was Charles Polk, one time Governor of Delaware. Jessie and Levergood lived at Merchantville, NJ. They had one son:
      • Charles Preston Polk b.7-6-1898 d.2-7-1966 m. on 6-26-1924 Clara Cloud Hoopes b.1-27-1899 d.3-21-1952.
    2. Harriet Hoskins Preston b.7-11-1871 d.7-14-1954 m. on 7-12-1898 Walter Newbold Walmsley b.8-1-11871 d.11-1947. Walter was born in Terra Haute, IN, the son of Edward Morton Walmsley and Jeannette McDowell Chambers of Philadelphia, PA. In 1906 Walter went to Sao Paulo, Brazil and in 1916 to Birmingham, AL. Harriet and Walter had 3 children:
      • Haines Preston Walmsley b.8-6-1900 d.5-30-1964 m. on 4-15-1922 to Virginia Adaline DesJardins b.5-12-1900 in Denver, CO, dau. of Bernard Roi DesJardines and Eleanor Purcell. They had 2 children.
      • Walter Newbold Walmsley, Jr. b.4-4-1904 d.xxxx m. on 1-14-1936 in Miami, FL to Maria Teresa Sanchez-Domenech de Baux b.9-3-1904. No children. Walter was fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and French and therefore served with the U.S. State Dept. mostly in foreign service.
      • Edmond Preston Walmsley b.1-6/16-1908 d.10-13-1949 m. on 5-14-1931 in Annapolis, MD to Edith Cockrell Preston b.2-28-1907 d.1-1953, dau. of Harriet Preston's brother, Proctor Preston. They had 2 children.
    3. Edith Cheyney Preston, 3rd child of Harriet Hoskins and David Preston, b.3-5-1873 d.2-2-1947 m. on 10-15-1902 Samuel Culbert Wisdom b.7-1-1875 d.9-10-1949. Samuel was the son of Richard Haywood Budd Wisdom and Hester Ann MacGowan. They resided most of their married life in Swarthmore, PA. (Suburb of Philadelphia.) Edith and Samuel had 2 children:
      • David Preston Wisdom b.4-8-1906 m. on 5-27-1933 to Helen Eva Robinson b.10-15-1904, dau. of Frederick Arthur Robinson and Cora Bucy of Estherville, Iowa. They resided in their parents home in Swarthmore. David and Helen had 2 daughters:

      • Samuel Culbert Wisdom, Jr. b.6-30-1912 m. on 11-17-1937 Elmira Frances Evelyn Redgrave "Dickie" b.7-12-1915, dau of Arthur R. O. Redgrave and Catherine Caroline Grauf of England. Sammy and "Dickie" had 3 daughters.
    4. Gilbert Kent Preston b.12-19-1875 d.8-11-1921 m. on 1-16-1904 Anna Elizabeth Clausius b.6-20-1872 d.2-9-1953. Anna was the dau. of George Clausius (of Germany who emigrated to New York City.) and Anna Maria Gleim. Gilbert studied Pharmacy and took over his fathers drugstore in Philly. Gilbert and Anna had 3 sons:
      • Gilbert Kent Preston, Jr. b.8-14-1905 grad. Univ. PA and taught at various schools incl. William & Mary College. Unmarried.
      • Ralph Clausius Preston b.4-12-1908 m. on 11-30-1933 Debora Mary Steer b.2-17-1908 in Hanoverton, OH., dau. of Wilson James Steer and Mary Caleb Hall. Ralph and Debora were divorced in Oct. 1949 and on 10-18-1952 Ralph m. Madeline Perry b.6-6-1909, dau. of Harry Wilkin Perry and Helen Johnson of NYC. They reside in Drexel Hill, PA and had 3 children:
        • Kathleen Preston b.5-29-1936 at Poughkeepsie, NY, m. on 2-8-1958 in Castle Hill, TX to Jack J. (now Joshua) Freiwald b.4-7-1935, son of Edna Perkel and Harold E. Freiwald of Forest Hills, NY. Joshua and Kathleen live in Oakland, CA. and have 2 children.
        • Elizabeth Ann Preston b.2-13-1938 m. on 4-13-1963 Arthur Underwood Ayres, Jr. b.10-10-1934 in Philadelphia. They have a dau. Susan b.2-10-1966.

Edith was born in Sherman, TX, dau of Emily Clara Bristol and Frederick Cockrell. They were married in Abilene and it was there that their children were born. They had 4 children:
      • William Frederick Preston b.3-11-1905 worked as an electrical engineer in Rio de Janiero and now in Denver, CO. Married in Rio in 1931 to Florence Bevan and they had one son:

    7. Katherine Hollingsworth Preston b.7-26-1884 d.6-24-1962 m. on 10-18-1906 Howard Newlin. They were separated in early 1920's, no children.
  3. Louis Harvey Preston, 3rd child of Edmond Preston and Phebe Hoskins, b.7-7-1845 d.5-31-1915 was married in Baltimore on 3-23-1877 to Elizabeth Fergusson b.2-3-1847/48 d.6-20-1910. Elizabeth was the dau. of William and Margaret Fergusson. Elizabeth was known in the family as "Aunt Pink". After Louis and Elizabeth were married they settled near Essex in Page County Iowa where their children were born. In Sept. 1907 they moved to a farm near Snyder, Morgan County, Colorado, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. They had 3 children:
  4. Henry Clay Preston, 4th child of Phebe Hannah Hoskins and Edmond Preston, b.11-6-1847 d.11-10-1935 m. on 10-23-1894 to Sara Fearon b.5-4-1858 d.1-4-1911, dau. of William Fearon and Eliza Gravenstein Kintzing of Loch Haven, PA. They had one son:

William Silvester Bills Preston b.10-5-1850 d.11-23-1904, the fifth child of Edmond Preston and Phebe Hoskins, m. on 10-7-1873 in Little Falls Meeting House to Elizabeth Hollingsworth b.2-23-1848 d.1-4-1920. Elizabeth was the dau. of Amos West Hollingsworth and Lois Pope Clement of Fallston. William and Elizabeth first settled in West Chester, PA but moved to Fallston, MD in 12-1874. The purchased a farm on the road between Fallston and Watervale, near "Cecil's Adventure". "Will" and "Lizzie" Preston had 3 children:

    2. William Edgar Preston b.12-27-1879 d.2-11-1948, 2nd child of Wm. S. B. Preston and Eliz. Hollingsworth, m. on 8-12-1915 to Cecelia Estelle Harward b.6-18-1882 d.1-25-1924, a dau. of William David Harward and Laura Jeffrey. They lived in Fulford, near Churchville, MD. William and Cecelia had 3 children:

She married on 10-7-1873 to Joseph Trimble Hoopes b.8-22-1852 d.8-21-1923, son of Darlington Hoopes and Rachel Trimble. Judith and Joseph moved to the "Woodside" farm in the valley of St. Omar Branch, a tributary of Deer Creek, 5 miles east of Forest Hill, MD. Joseph remarried after Judith died, on 8-24-1909 to Katherine Wylen Hollingsworth 1860-1928, the widow of Daniel Pope Hollingsworth 1846-1907. Judith and Joseph had five children:

Robert Stanley Preston, 7th child of Edmond Preston and Phebe Hoskins, b.7-17-1856 d.12-4-1932 m. on 10-16-1888 Mary Corner Robinson b.7-24-1864 d.5-24-1954, dau. of James Corner Robinson and Susan Jane Beeman. They lived for a while in Council Bluffs, Iowa but returned to Fallston, MD in 1891. Over the years they lived in several places in Hartford County, MD. Robert and Mary had 7 children:
