William Alfred Preston b.5-21-1808 d.5-26-1862, child of Col. John Preston and Margaret Brown Preston, married first Martha E. Wiley of Tennessee on 9-15-1828. They had no children. He married secondly Elizabeth Radford, his cousin, b.6-26-1832 in 1857 and they had one child. William and Elizabeth lived at 'Greenfield'.

1. Alfred G. Preston b.1-24-1858 at "Greenfield", Botetourt Co., Va, married Alice Murrell Brockenborough (or Brokenbough ?)of Lynchburg, Va. in 1885 and they had eleven children:
1. William Alfred Preston b.11-9-1886 and died unmarried.
2. Frank Brockenbrough Preston b.3-15-1888 married Margaret Kent Jones of Louisiana and had one child:
• Margaret Kent Preston.
3. Lucy Alice Preston b.8-21-1889 married William P. Moore. They lived in Charlottesville, Va. They had two sons:
• Alfred Preston Moore.
• William P. Moore II
4. Elizabeth Radford Preston b.4-23-1891, died young.
5. Susan Radford Preston b.12-30-1892 married William J. Robinson (Robertson ?) and moved to Wilmington, Delaware. They had two sons.
• William J. Robinson II.
• Alfred Preston Robinson.
6. John White Brockenborough Preston b.3-6-1894 child of Alfred and Alice Preston married Gertrude McConnell and they had three children:
• John White Brockenborough Preston, Jr. b.xxxx d.6/7/1978 m. Unknown and had at least one child:
• Alice Jeannette 'Jeannie' Preston b.xxxx m. Mr. Jacobs.
• Jane Deval Preston b.xxxx living in Troutville, VA.
• Ann Preston b.xxxx d.xxxx m. Mr. Harrington of Marion, VA.
7. Annie Beale Preston b.8-12-1897 married Henri D'Arcy Didier. The lived in Charlotte, NC. and had one son:
• Charles Peel Didier.
8. Mary Preston b.11-17-1898 married Evan W. Lindsay. They lived in Salem, Va. and had one child.
• Annie Beale Lindsay.
9. Channing Preston b.4-6-1900.
10. Robert Preston b.4-6-1902 unmarried, lived in Wilmington, Delaware.
11. David Preston b.1905 lived in the ancestral home at "Greenfield".
