A rare picture of all four cars clearly visible. From left to right: a 1964 Triumph Spitfire4, a 2013 Honda Pilot, a 1989 Honda CRX Si, and a 2005 Honda S2000.
It's tough to say which is the flagship of the cars, but the 2005 Honda S2000 is my main drive. I want to be driving this for decades (many decades) to come, so I don't take it for short trips or in bad weather. But it's so much fun when I do take it out for a long drive.
This is a 2005, so it's the update AP2 model.
I bought the car lightly used (it had about 20,000 miles on it at the time). Here's a picture of it while still sitting on the dealer lot.
When the weather's right (not too hot, not too cold), it's so much fun to put the top down.
Check out the 2.2 liters of naturally aspirated goodness under the hood!
I drove the S many, many times between Minneapolis and Fargo.
In 2015, we decided it would be good to get a winter beater car so as to protect the S2000 for a long time. I tried really hard to find something common like an Accord or Civic. I found this 1989 CRX Si instead.
I know it may make me a bad person to drive the CRX in winter, but in the end, it really is a cheap older car.
Despite their differences, both the S2000 and CRX are so much fun to drive in their own ways. The S is a serious sports car with instant responses, while the CRX is like an eager puppy who just keeps going and going.
I had a fun time taking pictures of both cars together one evening.
I'm also not afraid to work on the CRX. I've done lots of things to it, from rebuilding the sunroof assembly, to replacing the alternator (three times now) and even replacing the clutch.
One of these is a sophisticated transportation system capable of moving large amounts of goods across vast distances smoothly and efficiently. The other is a train.
While the CRX does get more exposure to the elements, I'm keeping a close eye on (and repairing) things like rust and damaged components.
Paul's daily driver is a 2013 Honda Pilot. It is so smooth and quiet and comfortable. It's great for any really long trips we need to take together.
And the Pilot has so much space for whenever we need to haul things around. Here's Paul, sitting in the passenger seat. I think we stopped to take some pictures of birds here.
The darling of our garage is this 1964 Triumph Spitfire4. Paul's mom bought it new in 1965 and, once we had a garage, she wanted us to take it.
We don't take the Spitfire out very often, but when we do, it turns a lot of heads.
When we lived in Minnesota, we were quite active in the Minnesota Triumphs Sports Car Club.
Here's the Spitfire on one of the club drives.
Paul even won that trip's scavenger hunt game!
