        BURIAL: David E. Cooper, 28, Ashville, Sunday. Survived by his wife, Mary; son, David Scott; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cooper, Ashville; brother, James, Columbus. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Ashville, Columbus Masonic Lodge No. 30, Ohio State Buckeye Sheriff's Association. Graduate of Ashville High School. Member of Harrison Twp. Fire Department. Formerly employed by F & R Lazarus Co. Service will be held held Wednesday 10:30 am from the First English Lutheran Church, Ashville, with Rev. Robert Michelfelder officiating. Interment Reber Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bastian Funeral Home, Ashville, after 7 pm Monday.

        DEATH: DEPUTY SHERIFF DIES OF TRUCK FALL INJURIES - A Pickaway County sheriff's deputy died at Mercy Hospital at 4:45 pm, Saturday as a result of severe head injuries received in an accident June 3. David E. Cooper, 26 of 82 E. Main St., Ashville, was injured when he fell from the tailgate of a pickup truck in which he was riding. He was delivering furniture from an auction at the Harrison Twp. Fire Department, Ashville. One of the chains supporting the tailgat snapped, dumping Cooper into the street. Deputies said he apparently struck his head on the truck as he fell. Cooper never regained consciousness, and had undergone surgery once. Cooper had been with the sheriff's department since December. Sheriff Dwight Radcliff called Cooper "one of my better deputies." Survivors include his wife, Mary, and a son, Scott, 4.
