RAVENSWOOD

Sta. 401

This is station 401. It is lodged in the public safety building in Ravenswood, West Virginia. Ravenswood is the largest town in Jackson County, both in population and in area. It is the northern most town and is situated along the Ohio River.

This station is the birth place of the Ambulance service in Jackson County. It is housed in the public safety building along with the Ravenswood Police Department and the Ravenswood Volunteer Fire Department (Sta. 20). The fire department also has a meeting room that is host to a lot of activities for the residents of Ravenswood.

Ravenswood's heritage is richly observed throughout the town, with evidence everywhere you look. The town is host to the Ohio River Festival every summer, that celebrates the river town it is and was.

Station 401 (formerly sta.40) got it's start here by being a part of the fire department and starting the E.M.S. system in the county, by having the first EMT and paramedic classes. A lot of the former members of that service are still involved with the EMS system in the State to this day, in one form or another.

It is only fitting that Jackson County and it's very long history, and all of JCEMS have a beginning here.
