Aggie A.L.L.I.E.S.

Co-Facilitator:
Responsible for co-training of 3 hour workshop attendees on the GLBT community in Bryan/College Station, including basic terminology, models of coming out and homophobia, heterosexism, and concepts of privilege.

Continuing Education Presenter:
  • Proposition 2 : The Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment: What is it really all about
  • Beyond Sexual Dimorphism : Beyond male and female to include third and fourth genders
  • Trans 101: A presentation covering history or transgender people in the world, terminology, concepts, hormone effects, personal testimony and story telling.
Panelist:
Part of the GLBT panel at the end of Allies Advance workshops (those I was not also co- facilitating) that help answer questions of what it is like to be queer and at Texas A&M and the surrounding community.

Independent GLBT Advocate:

2003 - present
  • Coordinate with Gender Issues or Women and Gender Equity Resources Staff to provide programming for "Coming Out Week", "Gay Awareness Week", and "Transgender Day of Remembrance."


  • Transgender Day of Remembrance: Co-organizer and speaker for the past 3 annual Texas A&M based celebrations.


  • Panelist: In classrooms and organizations, transsexual representative on GLBT panels where students get to ask open and honest questions about being GLBT. Also a panelist in the Women and Gender Equity Resource Center’s “Guess Whose Gay” panels

P.F.L.A.G Bryan/College Station:

President 2004 - present
  • Coordination: Letters for addressing of grievances against Sharlique Dominque by Texas A&M University, Yearly attendance in Pride Parades (2004-2005)
  • Leadership: 2005 State Conference (also presenter)
  • Special Projects: Pink Pages - a local directory of GLBT friendly business and organizations.

Brazos Progressives Forward Fest Committee:

Booth Chair 2006
  • Responsible for the application, payment, tracking, logistics and proper placement for 50-60 vendors and non-profit organizations during the daylong Festival, Forward Fest 2006 which raises funds for the Brazos Progressives 501c4 group in town

Human Sexuality:

Transgender 101 Presenter 2003 - present
  • Guest speaker presenting my Trans101 presentation mentioned above to Human Sexuality students.

LGBT Consortium:

2005
  • After the tragedy of a Hurricane Katrina Evacuee being detained in the local police station for one week for using the "wrong bathing facilities" because of her male-to-female transgender status, I communicated with local sheriff as a resource outreach, and helped in trying to get Sharlique out of custody. This was followed by my lead that we create a consortium of civil rights and LGBT groups to address issues such as this, issues for trans students at Texas A&M campus, and planning in advance for the yearly "Coming Out Week" and "Gay Awareness Week" events.

Friends Congregational Church, U.C.C Justice and Missions Team:

Head 2003 - 2004
  • Responsible for coordination of projects each month by the Justice and Missions Team, including, but not limited to the following: Angel Tree, Festival of Giving, Crop Walk, Blessings of the Animals, Recycling Effort, beginning stages of the Fair Trade Coffee effort, Study Hall for students.

Phoebe's Home:

Volunteer 2003
  • Volunteer for childcare while female residents were in mandatory self-improvement classes.
  • Main project: Clean up donation closet from which resident packages are created on check-in.
  • Self-motivated projects:
  • July 4th - Fingernail painting with red, white, and blue designs, for the little girls in the shelter.
  • Self-motivated project in conjunction with church: Planning, building, and coordination of a raised vegetable garden.

Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Services:

Phone Interviewer 10/2002 - 10/2003
  • Part of a team of interviewers responsible for calling participants in several Ag Extension Service Programs such as food preparedness/safety for food workers, "Better Living for Texans", Childhood Childseat Safety, Food Stamp recipient survey on behaviours, Irradiated Food survey, etc. Questions covered prior practices and current practices upon completion of the Ag Extension presentation. Surveys were used to measure effectiveness of classes and approaches for improvement.
