Merry Christmas from Kaye!

As I remembered 2018, the year seemed to be defined by Seasons – seasons of the calendar year, seasons of life, and finally Seasons of the Heart (a book by Paul Brownlow with art by Charles Wysocki.) Please indulge my sentimentality this year!

WINTER – A SEASON OF HOPE

“To be seventy years young is sometimes more cheerful and hopeful than to be forty years old.”  -Oliver Wendell Holmes

Norma, a lifelong friend and “traveler extraordinaire”, and I took a spontaneous trip to San Diego and up the California coast in January. We watched sunsets from Coronado and Dana Point, whales in the Pacific Ocean, a total lunar eclipse, and visited the San Juan Capistrano Mission, to name a few of our fun experiences!

SPRING – SEASON OF JOY

“True joy is not a thing of moods, not a capricious emotion, tied to fluctuating experiences. It is a state and condition of the soul. It survives through pain and sorrow and, like a subterranean spring, waters the whole life. It is intimately allied and bound up with love and goodness, and so deeply rooted in the life of God.” – Rufus Matthew Jones

Will, grandson #1 played spring soccer and tee ball. Lucas, grandson #2, was dedicated at church on Mother’s Day.

We shared Easter Sunday with the Lloyd Kraus family and the bluebirds came back to nest!

SUMMER – SEASON OF LOVE

“Love cannot be forced, love cannot be coaxed and teased. It comes out of Heaven, unasked and unsought.” – Pearl Buck

Special fun in Tyler at the zoo, swimming, picking blueberries and celebrating Dad’s Day!

Special summer times in Mississippi! My sister Nancy and I went to the Tomato Festival in Crystal Springs, MS and then cooled off in “The Creek” with cousins, Linda and Jimmy. Lloyd, Ashlie, Will and Lucas also traveled to MS for a weekend to camp out at the” Taylor Property” and explore “The Creek.” We visited Aunt Deline, Linda and Jimmy’s mother, in her nursing facility. She loved seeing everyone, especially the kids! I also had a good visit with the family of Bob Whittington, my mother’s brother, although sadly it was for his funeral in September, Roger and his wife, Annette, were the perfect hosts, plus seeing Jason and his precious family was such a joy!

Two Birthdays!

Will turned six on July 26th and Lucas had his first birthday on September 17. We are so blessed!

AUTUMN – SEASON OF PEACE

“Be still and strong, and keep thy soul’s large window pure from harm.” – Elizabeth Barrett Browning

It was an amazing trip in October with my lifelong friends Norma, Sharon, Diane, Chris, Pris, and Gaye.

We were in Paris, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, and Cinque Terre! I am so thankful to still be in touch with these amazing ladies

and to have been back to some of my favorite European places and to explore new ones!

Cherishing birthdays -
Ashlie’s and Larry’s!
Luigi and Mario and Mimi at Halloween!
Will and I at Elf the Musical in Dallas – so special!

How grateful I am for every day of 2018! So much could have been different but we are still together for another Christmas!

“It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Wishing you a Rich Year of Gratitude in 2019!

Kaye
