How do I ... ?

  • SIgn Up? Signing up for class is easy.  You can do so in person at the dojo.  We take cash, check and credit/debit card.
  • Decide which class is right for me/my child?  Classes are normally divided according to age/height/weight.  Students who are of a larger stature at  age 10 or above tend to gravitate toward the adult class. Adults and older teens are in the adult class and younger, smaller children take the kids class.  We can help guide you as to where you will learn most effectively.

Why doesn't ... ?

  • Class meet every day?  As much as we would like to offer classes every evening for every style we teach, there is simply not enough room to have karate or jujitsu or iaido daily.  We set our prices accordingly to try to give you the most time for your training dollar.

What is ... ?

  • Karate: Open hand defense.  There is no first strike in karate.  Emphasis in Seiei Kan Karate is a balanced approach between blocking, kicking and punching so as to have the maximum chance of surviving an attack unhurt.
  • Jujitsu:  Ground fighting.  Jujitsu is based on being able to defend yourself while knocked down to the ground.  Emphasis is on falling, grappling techniques and holds.  Combining karate and jujitsu is a very effective way to defend yourself.
  • Iaido:  Iaido is traditional and non-traditional Japanese sword.  Unlike some forms of the sword art, Iaido uses actual sharp blades and teaches draws, cuts and returns as well as practical fighting with a live blade.
  • Kobudo:  Weapons defense.  In Kobudo emphasis is placed on learning traditional Japanese weapons as well as using improvised weapons to defend onself.  Traditional weapons include the Tonfa, Bo Staff, Sai, Naganata, Escrima Stick and Kama.  Improvised weapons can include pretty much anything such as brooms, sticks, clubs, knives or whatever.
